Dr. John McGehee is originally from Coastal Mississippi. After earning his DMD from the University of Mississippi in 2003, he began a vigorous 3 year residency training program in Periodontics at the University of Louisville. Dr. McGehee then served as an Officer in the US Navy Dental Corps. During his Naval career, he was awarded multiple Achievement/Commendation Medals including Outstanding Clinician for his Battalion. He was also awarded the Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics award while assigned as Staff at the prestigious Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. McGehee was promoted to the rank of Commander just prior to resigning his commission in the US Navy in 2015 after 9 years of active duty service.

 

Upon his transition from the Navy to the private sector, Dr. McGehee moved to Charleston after purchasing the practice. He and his wife Melissa are the proud parents of their daughter Madison. He is an active member in the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Kanawha Valley Dental Society, and Charleston Dental Study Club. Dr. McGehee has also been a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology since 2007.  Dr. McGehee was honored to recently be inducted as a Fellow In the International College of Dentists. This is an honorary organization that recognizes leadership, professionalism, integrity, ethics and excellence in the field of dentistry.
