Jay Bhakta, DDS, is known for his laidback and calm demeanor which helps his patients find comfort during their dental visits. He believes patients should feel educated and empowered to be involved in their dental care. “I find that having a connection with each patient and listening to their primary concern and their goals helps us work in tandem with one another to come up with a treatment plan that works for both parties.” The best part of his job is the sense of fulfillment when he’s able to help a patient in any way. “Whether it’s getting you out of pain or helping you achieve the smile you desire, it is a good feeling to know I am truly making a difference in someone’s life.”
Raised by his parents who emigrated from India to the United States, Dr. Jay grew up in the rural community of Liberal, KS. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Program at Wichita State University. Dr. Jay joins Parkwood Family Dental as a general dentist and will provide patients with comprehensive examinations of their oral health, listen to their concerns and help create treatment plans that are tailored to their individual wants and needs. He performs a wide range of services including tooth-colored fillings, dental bridges and crowns, tooth extractions, root canal therapy, and dentures. He also will provide cosmetic procedures including Invisalign clear aligners and dental implants. “I look forward to developing meaningful relationships with my patients in the Salina community, and helping them improve their oral health or achieve a feeling of confidence in their smile.”
When he’s not serving patients, Dr. Jay describes himself as a huge “foodie” and enjoys cooking new cuisines from various cultures including American, Mexican, Italian, and Indian foods. “It’s a great time when I’m able to make a good dish and share it with friends and family.” He and his wife, Mona, look forward to living and working in Salina, KS, and building relationships with the community.
